Táto norma radí ochranné zváračské odevy do dvoch tried:
- Trieda 1: Ochrana proti nižšiemu nebezpečenstvu pri zváračských prácach, ktoré spôsobujú nižšiu úroveň rozstreku kovu a tepelného žiarenia
- Trieda 2; Ochrana proti vyššiemu nebezpečenstvu pri zváračských prácach, ktoré spôsobujú vyššiu úroveň rozstreku kovu a tepelného žiarenia (časté zváranie)
Podľa vykonaných skúšok ochranného zváračského odevu bude mať odev okrem normy a triedy uvedené označenie A1 a/alebo A2:
- A1: Odev spĺňa požiadavky pre obmedzené šírenie plameňa pre povrchové vznietenie.
- A2: Odev spĺňa požiadavky pre obmedzené šírenie plameňa pre okrajové vznietenie (odspodu, z dolného okraja).
Ochranné odevy (známe aj ako overaly alebo kombinézy) slúžia na zabránenie kontaktu tela s nebezpečnou látkou. Bývajú vyrobené z prírodných alebo umelých materiálov a je dobré si všímať, či obsahujú silikón alebo prírodný latex, ďalej prevedenie zápästí, pásu, kotníkov, kapucne, švov a zipsov.
Ochranný odev voľte podľa rizík, ktorým ste pri práci vystavení a podľa pracovných podmienok (suché, prašné, mokré,.. ). Overaly sú zaradené do kategórií určujúcich intenzitu rizika a podľa jednotlivých typov definujúcich typ rizika:
- CE Kategória I - nízke riziko
- CE Kategória II - stredné riziko
- CE Kategória III - vysoké riziko, ochrana pred nebezpečnými rizikami (potencionálne smrteľné alebo s vážnym poškodeniami zdravia). Patria sem odevy na ochranu proti chemickým látkam. Sú vhodné pre lakovanie, aplikácie náterov, údržbu strojov.
V tabuľke sú uvedené piktogramy označujúce typ ochrany voči jednotlivým rizikám. Je veľmi dôležité sa nimi riadiť:

Ochranný odev je nutnosťou pri mnohých pracovných postupoch, pri zváraní, v lakovni, pri práci s chemikáliámi, .. , avšak každá práca vyžaduje iný druh ochrany pred inými rizikami. Pre ochranu pri zváraní u nás nájdete špeciálne nehorľavé zváračské nohavice, blúzy, kabáty, kožené zástery, rukávniky, gamaše, ochranné šatky a samozrejme na ochranu tváre, hlavy a zraku zváracie kukly. Pre prácu s chemikáliami, biokontaminantami, v priestoroch s rádioaktívnymi časticami a pod. budete potrebovať špecializované ochranné odevy optimalizované pre konkrétny druh rizika.
